It had served as the jail before the new jail had been constructed on the outskirts of town a mere half mile away. The cell was located inside the town hall. Now he was dying inside a Riverport jail cell. He had continued his trade, cooking for the survivors of the outbreak once they’d holed up inside their town square bastion. Drew had been a cook at one of the few local eateries sprinkled around town. The floor of the jail cell in which the survivors of the Riverport attack were now being detained was covered in the man’s blood. They’d both retired about a year before the Carchar Syndrome struck. They had even worked together at the county nursing home, Julie as an event coordinator and Roger as a nurse’s aid.
